I'm sharing this recent incident from another organization's group ride as a reminder to always be attentive when on a group ride. Don't cross wheels, avoid panic braking and abrupt moves, point out hazards, be mindful when you take a drink/eat, etc.
We are militantly newbie-friendly, so if you are new to group riding, please speak up and we'll make sure to help you out. We'll spend a little more time tomorrow on some of the rules/guidelines before the ride, since even the most experienced among us can always benefit from a few "refreshers."
I don't want to be a buzzkill. The goal is to make sure everyone feels -- and is -- safe on our rides, because safety is a necessary pre-condition to a fun ride.
COP is a learning organization. We must learn from our mistakes and help educate others. We exist to teach, improve and help each other. Please take a few moments to read this blog post about what happened last night in Dublin.
